EMPOWERED GIRLS ACADEMY

This 6 week program has been thoughtfully and carefully curated to cover the key and pressing themes that girls are struggling with today, drawing on the common difficulties I have supported girls with during my time working as a coach and therapist.

KEY AREAS & AIMS

Through a mixture of discussions, coaching and activities in a welcoming and non judgemental environment, we tentatively focus on the following key areas and aims:

BODY IMAGE

Body image
  • Normalising parts of the body which are often seen as 'flaws' (ie stretch marks, cellulite, body hair, body shape etc)

  • Bringing awareness to media distortion of images (photoshops and filters)

  • Recognising and building respect, trust and appreciation for the human body beyond appearance

  • Bringing attention to social media and ways that we can have boundaries to protect our mental health.

Managing emotions

MANAGING EMOTIONS

  • Exploring how we recognise our emotions and what they feel like in our body

  • Supporting the girls to identify/develop their own coping strategies for certain emotions

  • Understanding anxiety, why we have it and how we can manage it

BUILDING CONFIDENCE

Buildin confidence
  • Supporting the girls to worry less about what people think and manage their anxiety in response

  • Looking at self doubt/self criticism/negative self talk and support them in building more positive, encouraging self talk

  • Encouraging the girls to recognise their own strengths & qualities and normalise being an imperfect human

  • Exploring personal boundaries and friendships/relationships and navigating toxic friendships/environments

Shame
  • Normalising making mistakes

  • Finding coping skills for times of shame 

  • Identifying circumstances & situations that can trigger a shame response

  • Practising self compassion & self kindness

During my time running this course...

During my time running this course, I have seen the impact and value of creating a safe space for the girls to not only receive support specifically tailored around key difficult topics, but to learn it’s not only them with those kind of thoughts of worries and hear other girls voicing how they may also be feeling. It is so incredibly powerful to know that you aren’t alone and the sighs of relief, and the “I thought it was just me but it isn’t” comments

that I witness is why I am so passionate about running these programs and creating these spaces for girls.
